Q&A Administrator - Resetting a Conversation in a Campaign
This article will help you answer the most frequently asked questions when resetting submissions for a conversation in a Campaign.
This article answers common questions about resetting conversation submissions in a Campaign.
It is designed to help HR and Admin users support Team Members and Managers throughout the process.
In this article, you will find answers to all these questions:
Q: Can I reset a conversation that is part of a campaign?
A: You can reset the submissions of a conversation only if one participant has submitted their part yet. Once the conversation has been Signed off and submitted by both participants, the submissions can no longer be reset, even if the campaign is still open.
Q: Why not?
A: Once both sign off, the conversation becomes part of the campaign's official record: it's counted, reported on, and possibly already shared with your team. A reset would permanently erase the submission dates and sign-off history, and it could change completion rates and reports that may already be in use.
Q: Does it matter if the campaign is still open?
A: No. "Open" only controls whether people can still complete new conversations, not whether a submission already recorded against the campaign can be undone.
Q: What do I do if the conversation needs to be redone?
A: Remove the participant from the campaign, then add them straight back:
- Campaign → Participants tab → Remove. The original conversation is detached but not deleted, it stays in the Conversations module, finalized and downloadable as a PDF.
- Add the same member back. A fresh, blank conversation is created and linked to the campaign the first time either person opens it. They complete and submit it as normal.
- The campaign timeline logs both steps ("Removed", then "Enrolled"), so the history stays visible.
Q: What if the conversation isn't part of a campaign?
A: It can just be reset directly: reopen it, the pair revises it, and they submit again. The same cost still applies: original submission dates and sign-off are permanently deleted, and the objectives snapshot isn't restored. To keep the first version as a record, create a new conversation instead of resetting.
Q: What if I only need to change the objectives?
A: You don't need to touch the conversation: manage objectives directly in the Objectives module (an admin may need to unlock them first).
Q: What should I know before removing and re-adding someone?
A:
- The new conversation starts blank: nothing carries over.
- The manager may not get a new email invite: tell them directly to reopen it.
- Lateness is recalculated against the campaign's end date.
- Objectives may need unlocking first if the original submission locked them.
- The campaign must still be open; if it's closed or locked, the only option is a new campaign.
Q: What happens to the original conversation?
A:
-
Kept: its full content and PDF in the Conversations module, plus the removal/re-enrollment audit trail.
-
Not kept: it drops out of campaign reports and exports, and the new conversation starts blank.
